Dr.C.W.W. Kannangara

He  was  the  minister  of  education  of  the  government  in  1932.  he  wanted  to  give  a  free  education  to  every  child  on  the  island.  he  is  sometimes  called  the  “Father  of  free  Education.”

The Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage.

   The  pinnawala  elephant  orphange  is  in  the  kegalle  district.  the  road  that  leade  to  the  orphanage  is  about  two  kilo  metres  from  kegalle  town, on  the  kandy  rood. It  wasstarted  in  1975.  There  are  baby  and  abult  elephants  in  the  orphanage.  They  are  all  rescued  elephants.   The  playful  little  ones  spray  and  splash  water  on  each  other. The  baby  elephants  below  one  year  are  the  in  fants.  Those  between  1 year  and  5  year  are  calves.       The  male  adults  are  bulls  and  the  female  adults  are  cows.   An  in  fant  dinkss  litres  of  milk  at  a  time.   They  are  bdttle  fed  five  times  a  day .  The  a  dults  ear  fodder,  coconut  leaves,  jak  leves  and  kitul  trunks.   you  can  spend  hours  and  hours  watching  them.

Ancient People of Sri Lanka

 

                             The  ancient inhabitants  of  sri lanka  were  called  veddhas.  They  livd  in  caves  in  the  forest.  They  did  not  farm  but  lived  by hunting  animals  and  covecst fruit  and honey  form  the  forest.    They lived  in  small  groups.  They  had  their  own  customs  and  traditions.  They  selected  the  oldest  member  of  the  community  as  their chief.  All  the  others  respected  and  obeyed  him .  Uruwarige  tissahamy  was  a  famous   veddha  chief. 

Environment Pollution

Environment  is  the  Surrouding  where  we  live .  pollution  refers  to  all  the  ways  by  which  people  dirty  the  the  environment.  people  pollute  the  environment  in  various  ways.   They  pollute  the  air  with  gases  and  smoke,  poison  the  water  with  chemicals  and  other subbtance.

National Festivals.

  This  is  a  colourful  festival  celebvated  by  the  hindus.  They  light  oil lamps  in  their  houses  and  wear  new  clothes  for  this  festival.  This  featival  is in  the  month  of  april. It is an  important  festwal  of  the  sinhala  and  the  tamil  people.  They  maks  a lot  of  sweet  meats.  wear  new  clothes  and  visit  relatirs  at  this  festival.  This  is a very  special  festival  to  the  buddhists.  It  is  in  may.  people  decorate  their  houses  with  colourful  lanterns  and  paper  streamers  during   this   festival.

The Olympic Games.

       Today   the   olympics  is  one  of  the  greatest  events  that  brings  the  world  together.  the  games  are  held  in  different  cities  every  four  years  and  aim  to  promote   world  peace.  women  take  partin   the  games   and  winners   are  given   medals.     the   olympic   flag  has   five   interlaced  rings  on  a  white   bachground.   they  represent  the  five  continents.  the  International  olympic  committee  [IOC]  is  responsible  for  the  continuation   and  derelopment  of  the  olympic  games.

Today   is   5.00  am  in  the   morning.   7.00  am  go  to   the   school   by  the   baycical.   going   to   the   school   at   the  lesen.   10.00  am   go  to  the   camputar  room .  11.45  am   in the  lunch.   2.05  pm   go to the  school   campiutar   class.   4.00    pm  going   the   house.  I  am  happy  day. 

Chirdrens world day.

October  first was  publised  as  a  chidrens  world  day.  various  contries  celibrate  this  day.  we  also  celibrated  this  in  our  country.  our  adults  heid  various  sports  items  and  give  priies  to  winners.  our  country  we  held  poems  and  essay  competidion   and  gave  priies  to  winners.  our  school  also  celebrare  this  day  by  our  teachers   and  childrens. drams  and  poetry  competidion   held   in  other  school   in  this  day.  we  saw  many   childrens  teuy  dramas   on  the  rupavahine   chanlles.   we  neit  enthusiast   cally  to  the  next   childrens   world   day.

today is weekend and holiday. my mother go to rakwana. morning the waching TV.   11.00 am    in  the  lunch.   I  am  going   to  class   matamatis  and   english.   5.30  pm   go  to  house.
